Great for dates, love the table by the fountain. All of the food I've tried there has been great, and I don't drink but people over dines with have really enjoyed the wine and cocktail selection
Missing it. Best French cuisine in Los Angeles. Enjoyed the atmosphere, ambience, service. Best butter I have had. Ever. Only problem is parking.
Located in Silver Lake's prime hipster block, Cafe Stella is the go-to lounge bar for those seeking a good buzz. With its vibrant atmosphere, impressive drinks, and proximity to other venues, it's the perfect spot to drink, mingle, and stumble upon your next adventure.
Cute quaint cocktail bar next to but separate from the cafe. Loved the atmosphere. Limited seating but Im glad the place wasn't very big as it would otherwise take away from the intimate atmosphere. Pricey cocktails, but the are definitely well thought out and complex. Would def try to revisit!
An absolute gem in the heart of LA. Secretly tucked away without any signage, this local LA bar will transform you to a paradise filled with all your cocktail dreams! I've been a visitor for years and every time gets better and better.
Only reviewing the Bar Stella. Didn't eat at the restaurant. Came in after work for some drinks with friends. It's a cool spot. Inside is comfortable and stylish. Plenty of leather sofa seating. And there's a cute little patio. Very grammable. A good place for small groups or a cocktail date. Cocktails were delicious. Can definitely recommend the Sofia. Cocktails were $18 so a bit on the pricier side. Service was good. Friendly bartenders. There's street meter parking but you'll probably have to walk a block or two.
Dinner tonight was my first time visiting here and I regret that I have not been here sooner. I had a really nice experience and aside from a few hiccups it was a really good dinner with a great vibe. Just to start I really like the design, almost an outdoor inside type of feeling. I especially like the lighting since it's very low and resembles candlelight. The live jazz was perhaps the true icing on the cake in terms of what made it an enjoyable setting. The music was not too loud that we could not hear each other talking but loud enough that it drowned out the tables around us. I will admit service was pretty slow at the beginning and we had to wait awhile to get our check after we finished but I don't blame the server at all she was very polite and everyone we saw was working hard I just think they were short staffed tonight. I started off with the beet salad with blue cheese and it was very tasty. Very light and refreshing and was a great start. For my entree I chose the Dover Sole and it was delicious; I finished every bit of it. Overall I would recommend to anyone, especially if you're a fan of bistro style French cuisine. I would say it's a casual setting so it would be ideal for a date or a dinner with friends. Parking can be a pain in the area however they do provide valet. It is a bit more expensive than some other bistros but they do have large portion sizes and it is quality.
Last night I got the chance to try Café Stella for the first time. A good friend of mine recommended this place to me, told me that he recently dined there and had exceptional mussels. As I LOVE mussels this was clearly a bookmarked place I needed to experience. The décor and vibe was an immediate 5 stars. No big sign outside screaming Café Stella. This was like coming to a very private club. Décor/vibe = 5 stars. Our waitress was charming, treated us like old friends. So why not 5 stars? Let's look at what I had. Salade Verte- 16 Bibb Lettuce, Fines Herbes, House Vinaigrette The greens were fine, the vinaigrette was weak. Clearly needed some pepper, something to wake it up. The salad also needed a crunch component. Presentation was beautiful but taste needed help. 3 star dish at best. Les Huîtres - 40 40 bucks for a dozen oysters. Not cheap. If they were amazing I would say worth it. However - they were good, not amazing. Perfectly shucked, no shells and released from muscle. Hence the shucker knew what he or she was doing. 3 dipping sauces accompanied the oysters. They were okay. No oyster and/or cocktail forks? Had to use the little spoons? Moules Frites- 36 Prince Edward Island Mussels, White Wine & Shallot Cream Sauce All but two of the mussels opened up. The sauce was good but not great. The fries (frites) were ordinary. 4 star dish and/or presentation. Last week I had the same dish at French Rotisserie Café in Palm Desert. Their mussels/frites were 5 stars. This dish was 4. Doubt I will order this again. Negroni- 18 Bluecoat Gin, Campari, Carpano Antica Very good Negroni. Had 2! So this is a lovely place you should go to. Loved the décor and service. Just don't come here expecting world class cuisine. It's also a tad overpriced for what it is. Every restaurant has the right to charge what they wish. However, as the prices go up my expectations go up as well. Fact is I can get better French in Los Angeles for less.
